plonk is a thin wrapper around live ICANN records. no autoplay video, no upsell funnel, no "100+ premium suggestions you didn't ask for." you type, we check, you register somewhere else. we just point.

how it works

most domain tools lean on slow registrar APIs. plonk uses a 3-tier system instead:

• zone files (instant) — daily-updated copies of ICANN zone files covering 900+ gTLDs. if a domain is in the zone, it's registered. lookups complete in under 1ms.
• rdap cache (fast) — for TLDs without zone file access (ccTLDs like .io, .co, .ai) we cache recent RDAP answers, so repeat checks are instant.
• live rdap (real-time) — when needed we query RDAP directly, typically answering in 100–500ms, rate-limited to be polite to registries.

the small print

• results are informational — always verify with your registrar before purchase
• some "available" names are registry-reserved or carry premium pricing; we flag them when we can tell
• ccTLD availability depends on registry policy and may have restrictions
